Fleet IT

The “Fleet IT” team supervises the Ahrenkiel Steamship fleet and provides the following services:

  • IT support for a fleet of over 50 ships
  • Point of contact for all questions relating to the on-board IT systems
  • Planning, implementation, adaptation and maintenance of IT solutions on the ships
  • Provision of customised and high-availability computer, network and communications solutions via satellite links
  • Central interface for a large number of application systems between the ships at sea and the office on land
  • Support even with extraordinary requirements: For example, the IT systems on the ships of the Ahrenkiel Steamship shipping company are connected as if the ships were mobile offices. This allows VoIP telephone calls to be made from the ships, the use of the internet on board and the exchange of data with the office in Hamburg.
